QUESTIONS ABOUT GOD
Before I started in church, I had no idea really who God was. So when I wrote this poem, I thought back to the questions I had as an infant in being a Christian.
During a church service, a young man walked into church, he listened to the sermon, after church he asked, Who is Jesus? The Pastor answered, He is a light for the lost, His hand holding the broken, the weary, shaping them with grace. Jesus is the breath of kindness, the embrace of understanding, the pulse of life, He is love. The young man asked, Is Jesus God? The Pastor answered, yes, He is flesh and spirit intertwined, He is the light in our shadows, He is God wearing humanity like a garment walking among us teaching love. We search for Him in the sky, yet he dwells in our laughter, in our tears, the small moments reminding us, we are never alone. He then asked, Why does God love me? I wonder what is it, about me that draws me nearer to God? The Pastor answered, we stand on this earth, imperfect and flawed, yet wrapped in the embrace of an endless sky, in faith without sight, the love is not earned but freely given like the air that fills our lungs. So in the morning light, we whisper a soft prayer for the gift of life for the kindness we can’t fully understand, we are loved for our journey, for every step and breath, an ever-evolving dance where God sees us and smiles.
