WHEN YOUR STORM COMES
I have lived through many storms; tornadoes, remnants of a hurricane, snow squalls, thunderstorms, and storms within myself.
When I am facing a storm within myself, I turn to God and pray for His guidance. This photo I took of the Mackinaw Bridge many years ago just after a storm hit.
How do you calm your storms, when the winds howl, and shadows stretch long, when fear whispers like a siren, pulling you into the depths of doubt? Do you sink beneath the waves, or rise, arms open, trusting in a hand unseen, in the quiet promise of faith, that steadies the heart? It is in this surrender, this letting go, when the tempest rages inside, that peace gently echoes, a soft breath in solemn chaos. With Jesus, the storms subside, the raging sea finds stillness, and in the tranquil embrace, there is strength, where strength was once thought lost. When I cast my fears away, like leaves on a current, I learn to listen to the silence, to the whispers of grace, that guide my soul to safe shores. What do I do when the storms are calm? I look to the horizon, where hope dances like the sun, and I gather the lessons. woven from the winds that once tore me apart. Each calm moment a treasure, each stillness a gift, I stand with an open heart, ready to face whatever comes, knowing I am never alone. Written by Mia Ball 2/16/2026
